Darran completed his Bachelor of Optometry and his Postgraduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics at the University of Melbourne.
Darran has practiced optometry internationally in East Timor, Singapore and Africa, specifically Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia, volunteering his optometry services to the underprivileged.
Prior to settling back in Melbourne, Darran practiced for many years in regional Victoria and regional South Australia; where he served as the first optometrist to visit the Oak Valley and Yalata Aboriginal Reserve, located 15.5 hours north west of Adelaide, South Australia.
In 2006, Darran was presented with the Boroondara Young Citizen of the Year Award.
Darran has a particular interest in myopia management in children and early detection of eye diseases in adults and children.
Darran is a member of Optometry Australia and Orthokeratology Society of Oceania; is therapeutically endorsed and is qualified to provide prescription eye drops.
