Sunglass

Looking good is only one of the many great reasons to never leave your home without sunglasses.

We apply SPF50 on our skin to shield us from the sun’s harsh UV rays. But what about our eyes? In a 2012 survey, 52% of Australians do not protect their eyes when they are in the sun and unfortunately, Australia has the highest skin cancer rate in the world (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2012).

This simple yet stylish accessory can protect you from the following conditions caused by harsh ultraviolet rays:

  • Cancer  – As many as 10% of skin cancers are located on the eyelid.
  • Cataracts  – According to the WHO, there are approximately 900,000 cases of blindness caused by cataracts worldwide. Cataracts cause the lens of your eye to become cloudy and it can be triggered by excessive exposure UV rays.
  • Macular Degeneration  – The macula area of the eye is responsible for sensing light and helping us to clearly see finer details. Prolonged exposure to UV light may damage the macula and lead to Macular Degeneration, which can cause permanent blurred vision and vision loss.
  • Pterygium  – A fleshy overgrowth of the conjunctiva area of the eye. Also known as surfer’s eye, Pterygium may spread to the white of your eye and cause inflammation and disturbed vision.
  • Photokeratitis – A temporary sunburn to the eye which can cause pain, blurry vision, sensitivity to light, and a gritty feeling in your eye. Usually heals within 48 hours but can be incredibly uncomfortable.

Our entire range of sunglasses can be made into prescription sunglasses where it can be further customised to type of tint colour (there are over 50 shades to choose from), darkness of tint, a mirror finish, polarised coat and/or UV coat options.
